\nAn exchange of words between individuals can often be seen as a conversation and in some cases an argument, but what most people don\u2019t know is that those exchanges of words are a form of spoken rhetoric, a shared communication to reach a common goal or pleasure. Yet, there is much more to rhetoric than just an exchange. Rhetoric is all around us. When we use words to compile sentences we are using a form of rhetoric to get our meaning or point across; we use it for simple communication, like asking to borrow a pen and so on. Writers like Edgar Allan Poe however, prefer or have preferred the written word over the spoken word for many a years and throughout those years, works of writing have been banned or thrown aside for literature that meet the \u201cstandards\u201d of society. Works that are too vivid or colorful, have been thrown into dumpsters, where true literary readers have found these treasures.
\n
\nPoe once stated that, \u201cwords have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.\u201d Writers are the artists who mold these words and give them the shape and form they deserve, to create the images that the author wishes to convey to his audience.
\n
\nLike Poe once wrote in his piece Berenice, \u201cIt is more than probable that I am not understood; but I fear, indeed, that it is in no manner possible to convey to the mind of the merely general reader, an adequate idea of that nervous intensity of interest with which, in my case, the powers of meditation (not to speak technically) busied and buried themselves, in the contemplation of even the most ordinary objects of the universe.\u201d During Poe\u2019s time\u2014like many other writers of their time\u2014he was greatly unfavored by other writers and people. As a writer he received criticism from others like Emerson, who labeled him the \u201cjingle man,\u201d and later by Lowell who wrote that Poe was \u201cthree-fifths genius and two-fifths sheer fudge.\u201d The people of his time thought of him as a writer who simply just wrote little musical lines that once finished truly made no sense, but sounded good. Poe did not win over the people of his time or upcoming years. However, with time he like many other writers, has proven to rise above the criticism and has proven to be an outstanding figure in the literary community \u2013 timing is key for this writer\u2019s acceptance, like so many others that have found themselves banished from the audiences shelves.

\nThe world of literature holds endless possibilities and writers like __ merely mean to walk people through each of these roads.
